This immersive 18-hour course introduces participants to the fundamental’s skills of a sommelier. Delve into the intricacies of viticulture and vinification, exploring the diverse world of major international and regional grape varieties. Discover the distinct characteristics that define Old World and New World wines, enhancing your appreciation and understanding. Through guided tastings of 18 carefully selected wines, participants will also learn the art of food pairing, elevating their culinary experiences.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand different type of Viticulture, Vinification and aging processes
- Known international and regional grapes varieties with their principal characteristics
- Describe important region of old-world wine such as France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Austria
- Describe important region of new-world wine such as USA, Argentina, Chile, Australia, Thailand, New Zealand and South Africa
- Remember different aromas characteristics by using a simple system of tasting
- Advise your customer or guest to how proper store and serve the wine at the good temperature
- Suggest different wine pairings with food
